A Targa Florio Cobra, a Reimagined GT500, and many other American Icons

Gary Bartlett's 427 Cobra and the Hi-Tech Legends GT500 headline July 18th at Motor District.

Next Saturday, July 18th, Motor District fills with American icons. Registration is moving quickly, and if you've been meaning to get your car on the field, this is the week to do it.

Two entries are worth the trip on their own.

Gary Bartlett is bringing his 1965 Shelby 427 Competition Cobra, chassis CSX3019. One of nineteen ever built. It raced across Europe in 1966 and has been restored to Targa Florio specification. Cars like this don't sit in public often, and rarely somewhere you can walk right up to one.

Alongside it, Holley Motorsports and Hi-Tech Legends introduce their reimagined Shelby GT500. The original GT500 is widely considered the high-water mark of Carroll Shelby's street cars, built the final year Shelby American handled assembly near LAX. The reimagined version keeps every bit of that presence and puts a completely modern car underneath it. Modern chassis, updated driveline, real braking, and horsepower that would have been unthinkable sixty years ago. Both cars will be on display, side by side. Seeing them together tells the story better than either could alone.

They'll be joined by a field spanning the whole arc of American performance, from pre-war Indiana machines to modern muscle.

Around the cars, the afternoon takes care of itself. Chris Trowbridge on music. Adam Hoffman and the Big Hoffa's Smokehouse team on lunch. Garage tours from our hosts at Motor District that are worth the trip by themselves.

Noon to 2pm, next Saturday, July 18th.

Space is limited and going fast. Register your American Icon now, or come without a car and just enjoy the afternoon. Either way, we'll see you there.
