Get Your Car Ready. The Driving Season Is Here.

A practical guide to show prep, from paint correction to documentation, with some trusted local resources to make it easier.

Show season has a way of arriving faster than expected. Last weekend we froze-out. Today, pretty warm… maybe even hot. A little attention now, before the first event, saves a lot of scrambling later and puts you in a better position when it counts.

Start with the paint. A proper detail is the foundation of everything. If the car has been in storage, give it a full wash before anything else and assess what you're working with. Light swirl marks and water spots can usually be addressed with a good paint correction and sealant. Deeper scratches or oxidation may need professional attention. Either way, know what you have before you show up somewhere and see it under direct sunlight for the first time. SONAX and AutoGeek return to Artomobilia again this year, and as a local resource they're worth knowing year-round, not just on event day. Their product knowledge is genuine and their range covers everything from a quick maintenance wash to a full correction detail.

Get the interior right. Clean surfaces, conditioned leather, and clear glass go a long way. Judges notice what most people overlook. Dust in the vents, haze on the windshield, and worn floor mats are the details that separate a prepared car from a clean one.

Address the mechanicals, even cosmetically. A well-presented engine bay signals that the owner cares about the whole car, not just the parts people photograph. Degrease, dress the hoses and covers, and make sure nothing is leaking. If something under the hood needs attention, now is a better time to handle it than the night before an event.

Documentation matters more than you think. If you plan to enter a judged class, have your records organized. Build sheets, service history, and provenance documentation can make a meaningful difference in how a car is evaluated. Keep digital copies and bring physical ones when it makes sense.

Know what class you're entering. Every event structures its classes differently. Review the categories before you register. A car entered in the wrong class, or registered at the last minute without reading the requirements, is a missed opportunity. Artomobilia's class structure is posted at artomobilia.org as registration opens.

If you'd rather leave it to someone else, that's a perfectly good call. Not everyone has the time, the space, or the inclination to detail their own car. Pristine Auto Spa is an exceptional resource and a trusted partner. They know show cars, they know what judges look at, and they'll have the car ready when you need it.

The season opens May 2 with the SHIFT Road Rally and runs through October. There's enough time to do this right. Start now.
