Our Scoring & How to Prep Your Car

A look at how Artomobilia judging works, and a video series to help you prepare.

It's no state secret what our fifty-plus member judging team looks for at Artomobilia. It’s been largely the same for the last 18 years, and this year is no different. That said, a car prepared with the judging in mind is a better car to see, and a better car to show.

This year, that judging gets a meaningful upgrade. We're rolling out THUSIA, a new automotive app that, among other things, replaces paper scoresheets and streamlines the entire scoring and tallying process. It lets our judges score consistently from their phones, right at the car, which means faster, more accurate results and less waiting around for everyone. It's the kind of behind-the-scenes improvement you'll feel without ever seeing it.

What the judges evaluate hasn't changed, though. The primary scoring criteria are the ones you'd expect: exterior, interior, engine bay, and tires and wheels, along with the trunk. Each is scored on its own merits, from body, paint, and chrome to upholstery and cabin, to engine compartment cleanliness and authenticity, to tire condition and wheel finish. Beyond those, there's room for bonus points, awarded for things like documentation, a great story behind the car, and yes, a proper fire extinguisher on board.

Here's the good news. Every one of those categories is something you can improve with a little preparation. So this year, our partners at Autogeek and SONAX put together a short series of videos to help you do exactly that, not just to improve your score on August 29th, but to improve and preserve your car's appearance wherever you are.

On a Personal Note…
