Reimagining an American Icon
Hi-Tech Legends and Holley Motorsports reimagine the Shelby GT500, and you'll see it at All-Americana.
Reworking a legend is not for the faint of heart. Get it wrong and you've insulted the original. Get it right and you've built something worthy of standing next to it. The team at Hi-Tech Legends, working with Holley Motorsports, set out to do exactly that, and you'll see the result at All-Americana on July 18th.
The car is the Shelby GT500. For a lot of people, it's the high-water mark of Carroll Shelby's street-car production, a masterpiece of aggressive styling and raw American muscle. It was built during the final year that Shelby American handled assembly at their hangar facilities near Los Angeles International Airport, which gives the original an added layer of significance.
Now picture all of that same presence, the same unmistakable shape and stance, but underneath it a completely modern car. A modern chassis. An updated driveline. Real braking. Premium finishes throughout. And the possibility of an amount of horsepower and performance that would have been simply inconceivable when the original rolled out nearly sixty years ago.
That's the idea behind the reimagined GT500. Honor everything that made the original great, then quietly answer the question of what Shelby might have built with another six decades of engineering behind him.
The best part is that you won't have to choose which one to admire. Both cars, the original and the reimagined version, will be on display side by side at All-Americana. Seeing them together tells the whole story better than either one could alone.
They'll be joined by a field of other iconic American automobiles, all gathered at Motor District for the afternoon.
Come with your own American icon, or come with nothing but an appreciation for the ones on display. Either way, we'll see you at All-Americana on July 18th.
