Driven to Give: Meet Indiana Wish
Granting Wishes, One Hoosier Child at a Time
Some wishes are simple. A trip to the ocean. A meeting with a hero. A day that belongs entirely to a child who has had too many days that belonged to doctors and hospitals.
The Driven to Give Road Rally supports a number charities this year, and Indiana Wish is one we are proud to help. Since 1984, this Indiana nonprofit has granted wishes to Hoosier children, ages 3 to 18, who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The number now stands at more than 3,500 wishes, reaching children in 88 of Indiana’s 92 counties. Its vision is as plain as it is moving: every Hoosier child who needs a wish can have one.
What sets Indiana Wish apart is close to home. It is independent, not affiliated with any other local or national wish-granting organization, and its focus is entirely on Indiana. The money raised here stays here, granting wishes for children and families in our own communities. For a family facing the hardest news they will ever hear, a wish is not a distraction. It is a moment of joy they get to keep, and often a turning point that gives everyone something to look forward to.
The work goes beyond the wish itself. Indiana Wish offers resources for families walking a difficult road, from its Wish Family Corner to the community it builds around children who have shared the same experience. A small, dedicated team carries it, with decades of combined service behind the mission.
On October 24, one of our drivers will carry Indiana Wish’s name down the route, and the giving that follows will help grant a wish for a child who needs one. That is a good reason to drive.
